Belgaum has a stratergic location. It is situated near the borders of Goa and Maharastra states. Two major highways pass through Belgaum giving access to northsouth and east-west directions. Belgaum airport is one of the oldest in the country. The city and its surrounding enjoy an ideal climatic condition. A large number of educational institutions with Vishweshariah Technological University, Belgaum is now a prime education centre in India. The revenue divisional office Controlling 7 districts in Northern Karnataka state is also located in Belgaum.

Agriculture and trading has been traditional activity of Belgaum. During late thirtees some industrial activities, including Kirloskar’s first venture, commenced in this area. Notable industrial growth took place during the sixties and seventies. It was during this period a need was felt for an institute representing the trade and industrial community of Belgaum. A renowned chartered accountant, Late Shri Vinod Kulkarni, took the lead and motivated some of the leading personalities in trade and industry to formally establish the Chamber in 1969. In 1994,the chamber celebrated it’s Silver Jubilee and today it is a premier institute serving the trading and industrial communities of Belgaum. The chamber enjoys representation on various local, state and national level bodies. Illustrious members from trade and industry have held the post of President of the Chamber. Technical seminars, workshops, exhibitions and addresses by noted speakers and authorities are arranged for the benefit of members.
